Research on the effects and effectiveness of Religious Education: Aims, reseach fieds and research tasks in religion-related didactics

This article describes approaches to investigating the effects of RE in the perspective of religion-related didactics. It describes possible aims of such approaches as well as existing fields of research. At the same time, the article stakes up the concept of different research formats which has been introduced by the recent German discussion on general subject-oriented didactics. This concept is discussed in relationship to research on the effects of RE, thus testing the possible usefulness of this concept and trying to clarify its meaning for religious education.
