The article offers a literature based review of studies dealing with religiosity and religious education of young Muslims in Germany. The percentage of people of Muslim faith in Germany will rise in the years to come due to demographic changes such as the inflow of refugees. A particularly large percentage of young Germans – estimated to be about 15% of children and adolescents – are Muslims. Studies depict the higher percentage of young Muslims characterizing themselves as religious in contrast to the decreasing number of religious young Christians. But studies also point out the significant heterogeneity and the broad variety of different forms and types of Muslim beliefs. On average young Muslims experience a more rigid education within their families, but are nevertheless very satisfied with their familiar experience and characterize their parents as warm and caring.
