The high level of complexity and diffuse uses of terms have made the current discourse of inclusion in the German-speaking regions frequently confusing and ambiguous. There is an urgent need for a systematic explanation of the discursive field and related terminology. In this study, the three key terms heterogeneity, inclusion and education will be examined from both educational and religious educational perspectives, in order to clarify the conflict field and the ambivalence surrounding the current issues. Furthermore, it will also reassess the view of religious education that has been so far marginalized in the discourse of inclusion and attempt to capture it in the context of general education. The study ultimately aims to enrich the research fields and discussions on inclusion.
