Hermeneutical Concept Development in the Didactics of Religion

Hermeneutical research is an elementary method in religious education. At the same time, however, there are only a few methodological explanations for it. The paper outlines fundamental aspects of a hermeneutical approach and illustrates them by focussing the development of concepts in the didactics of religion. Among other things, a review of main results of hermeneutical concept development is presented, and the underlying methodological approach is characterized. In this way it can be demonstrated that a hermeneutical concept development represents an established research format with potential.
