This article addresses the digital media as new and church and religion as traditional resonance systems. The topicality of resonance for the younger generation results from the 18th Shell Youth Study 2019, which documents the concern for the social and ecological future as a central concern of the 12-25 year olds on the one hand and the lack of social resonance experienced by young people on the other. Such a promise comes from digital communication media, which is why they are so popular. In the study, the young people also address offline social institutions such as church and religion as the desired resonance bodies. They want their issues to be heard there, for the church to position itself as a moral authority. The article tries to show why church and religion in particular are required as resonance systems due to their structure of meaning.
