From a pastoral theological perspective, the article identifies the current tasks that Christians face in combating anti-Semitism - above all in Germany and Austria. In contrast to the abundance of magisterial and theological materials available to pastoral leaders, the subject of anti-Semitism is not yet a structured research topic of this academic discipline. In the absence of representative empirical studies, the author describes anti-Jewish as well as anti-Semitic phenomena in the pastoral field based on three different terms of anti-Semitism. Special attention is paid to the classical dimensions of the Church's proclamation, the encounter with contemporary Judaism and anti-Judaism as genuinely theological phenomenon. The article is intended to be a first programmatic draft aiming to trigger an intensive discussion.
