In the German state of Saarland, comparatively few pupils have no religious affiliation. It is nevertheless necessary for religious education to respond to the growing number of secularly oriented students on a didactical and organizational level. Religious education faces the task of designing its teaching processes in an inviting way that encourages participation even for the "religiously non-musical". Their participation can be advantageous for religious education processes, if the diversity of world views is made visible and dialogical competences are initiated. The article points out some consequences of this insight for the organization of religious education and for religious rituals in schools.
