The contents of religious education under scrutiny - a multi-perspective approach to a basic question of religious education

The question of content in Religious Education is identified as a currently virulent issue. This finding results from the analyses of media discourses, empirical research, concepts of Religious Education and curriculum and textbook criticism. The approach also shows the different layers of the content discourse on several levels and the inconsistent use of the concept of content. The virulence of the discourse, the conceptual diversity and the variety of levels, as well as the questions arising from the different approaches, suggest a new debate in religious pedagogy on the question of content, for which impulses are finally formulated.
