Religious Education and Politics - A Field Opening from an Protestant Perspective

In view of the present manifold perspectives of interpretation of the political, it is highly challenging for religious education theory as well as for religious education as school subject to position itself with their own objectives in the midst of contemporary social dynamics. The challenge for a politically dimensioned religious education is to deal as intensively as possible with the highly dynamic institutional and educational-theoretical, school-political and didactical challenges of the connection between religious education and politics. In this article a theologically grounded life-serving perspective of religious, politically dimensioned education from the perspective of pneumatology is developed. Such a theological foundation must publicly plausibilize itself in both theoretical and practical respects and expose itself to the relevance test.
