This keynote speech for a workshop takes the relationship between the appreciation experienced by young volunteers and their solidarity to the church into account. The degree of their attachment, however, has an impact on voluntary work. There is also a need for action among young people after confirmation, only every second has been addressed regarding voluntary commitment. What do young people and young adults want to get engaged in? Which (religious) topics interest them? Using the example of youngsters and young adults who opt for voluntary service with an ecclesiastical or diaconal provider the religious dimension of this field of action is taken into consideration.
